About me

Let voters know:
What skills and experiences do you have that makes you suitable to represent them?
What was your motivation for nominating?

I’m Clyde Goodenough, an experienced public school teacher who is passionate about the community I live in.
As a teacher, father of three, and active community volunteer, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities our Ward faces. My platform is simple: support families, strengthen community, and build a safer, more connected South Ward.

My Preference Order card

How I intend to serve my electorate

Let voters know if elected:
What measures you will implement to improve accountability and transparency with your electorate?
What methods will you use to engage with your constituents to improve communication and to engage them in policy development and decision making?

Hello South Ward (Koondoola, Girrawheen, Marangaroo, Alexander Heights) residents! I’m Clyde Goodenough, and I’m proud to stand for you in the upcoming City of Wanneroo elections. I have been living in the area for the past four years and have seen and heard so many things from residents in the area, who like me, feel a little jaded with how things are going. Instead of whinging about how things should be, I decided that I need to do something about it!
Why I’m Running
• For Families: Whether you're raising little ones, caring for elders, or juggling work and life, I believe every family deserves safe streets, quality services, and places to gather and grow.
• For Community: From our parks and sporting clubs to community centres and local volunteering, I’m committed to strengthening the social fabric that brings us together.
What I Stand For — South Ward Priorities
1. Safe and Connected Communities
Road safety and traffic congestion are real issues in our growing suburbs. As both a teacher and a parent, I’ve seen the need for safer streets around schools, playgrounds, and busy community hubs. I will advocate for smarter traffic planning, pedestrian crossings, and cycle-friendly pathways that protect our families and keep our suburbs connected.
2. Protecting and Enhancing Parks and Open Spaces
South Ward is blessed with parks and green corridors, and I know from my own family’s experience how vital these are for sport, recreation, and family gatherings. I will work to maintain and improve these spaces with better facilities, landscaping, and support for local sporting clubs and community events.
3. Supporting Families and Local Services
Families juggle work, childcare, and caring for elders every day. I want to see more accessible and inclusive services, whether that’s community programs for seniors, multicultural initiatives, or support networks for young families. Every household deserves to feel supported and connected.
4. Strengthening Community Spirit and Engagement
South Ward has an incredible community energy- from dance and fitness groups to volunteer organisations and cultural celebrations. Through my work in education and theatre, I’ve seen firsthand how shared experiences build belonging. I will champion more opportunities for residents to engage in local decision-making, celebrate our diversity, and build stronger community connections.
My Vision for South Ward Families and Community
1. Help Shape the Future of our Ward
You’ll have meaningful opportunities to influence local decisions- from development plans to cultural programs, and traffic improvements to recreational investments.
2. Safe, Accessible and People-Friendly Streets
I’ll advocate for safer roads, better crossing infrastructure, and improvements that reflect how our Ward is growing not just in size, but in diversity.
3. Protect & Unlock Greenspaces
Parks and open spaces should be nurtured, improved, and celebrated as vital community assets, whether it’s through improved facilities, community-led events, or environmental programs.
4. Stronger Social Support for All
From hands-on support for seniors to stronger multicultural engagement, I’ll push for services and community initiatives that connect, support, and uplift our neighbourhoods.
In Summary
• I’m a local- committed to South Ward families, because our community’s wellbeing is personal to me. I prioritise engagement, safety, inclusion, and convenience for all residents.
• I’m a teacher- I mentor, and lead with patience.
• I’m a parent- I understand the challenges families face and will work to ease them.
• I’m a community volunteer- I’ve invested time and energy into building stronger connections, and I’ll continue to do so as your Councillor.
Together, we can make South Ward a place where families thrive, communities flourish, and everyone feels they belong.
I am happy to answer any questions you have. I do not believe in the 'beat about the bush, politically correct', vague answers that don't actually say anything. I speak my mind and am happy to tell it the way it is.

Do I accept political donations? No
